more painting...

This is the painting with the ants and the little figure...I'm still working on it. You can see the figure upside down in the upper left corner

This is a detail of the painting I started today.

This is the base painting. The daughter, knowing me asked me what is coming next. I told her to "think snow". This is the "under painting". More layers will accrue over these images.

What fascinates me is that I didn't start out looking for male and female imagery. Yet, amazingly, that imagery appeared. It seems trite to me and was not intentional. But, because it was not intentional, I'm intrigued at it's occurrence.

Thank you for looking.

I've been working on some paintings.
Had an idea or two.
So, this is what I'm ready to share sooo far. (No, not sofa!, so far)

This is the first in the series. Of course you cannot see alot of what is going on and some of the textures are lost. And I'm sure I'm not the best photographer in the worrrld.

This is a detail of the first (test) painting.

This is a tiny 2-inch square which is a detail I got hung up on in the second painting in the series.

Funny thing is, and you would never guess it, up and to the left of this figure I painted a fairly comic image of an ant. I was wondering what compelled me to paint an ant to begin with. I am not really crazy about the critters and fire ants are particularly no fun. I wondered if I was painting familiar surroundings. I guess one could construe the beginnings of this painting as me saying Florida is oppressing me and the joker/trickster of an ant is having fun at my expense. But that really wasn't what was going on in my head. I paint this figure in this position sometimes. I've even sculpted her in bronze. It is one of my favorite sculptures of mine. You just want to hold her and surround her. Dunno.

Now that company has gone, perhaps I'll have more time to paint.

Luvvies,
L!
